Maintaining a professional boundary between Fernlea Surgery Staff and Patients

It is very important for doctors and staff to maintain a professional boundary with patients at all times.

Trust is the foundation of the doctor-patient partnership. Patients should be able to trust that
their doctor will behave professionally towards them during consultations and not see them as a potential sexual partner.

We adhere to strict guidelines by the GMC (General Medical Council) regarding this.

This includes the use of Social Media. We strongly discourage Fernlea Surgery staff to add patients on Social Media Platforms including Facebook and Snapchat. This is to ensure professionalism is maintained throughout the care of our patients.

Therefore, if requests are received from patients, this may automatically be rejected. We also encourage patients to reject any requests from Fernlea Staff if made in error.
